Hair Braiders are not required to be licensed to practice hair braiding in Florida but it is to work in a salon. Workshops are not a State Board of Cosmetology Requirement

Objective:  To prepare students to meet the State of Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation mandated requirements to become a Certified Hair Braider within prerequisite required:16 CLOCK HOURS:

Hair Braiding Certification Workshop will teach you the following requirements: 

1) HIV/AIDS/Communicable Diseases 

2) Scalp Diseases and Disorders of the Scalp 

3) Sanitation/Sterilization 

4) Florida Law

REQUIREMENTS: 

All students must be at least 16 yeas old to take to course.

Question: Can I work in a salon without a license?
Answer: It is required to work in most salons in Florida and should be had if you are a hair braider $500 if sanitation requirements are not met in the salon.

Question: Can I work in my home without a license?
Answer: Yes, but its beneficial if you are a hair braider

Question: Can I do relaxers, perms, colors,  fusions with my hair braiding license in Florida?

Answer:  No, you will need a cosmetology license. That’s 1200 hours of school in the state of Florida. You can contact the Florida state legislator to see if the braiding law can be revised to also do sew-in weaves and dreadlocks
